Lyrics

First things first, I'll post all the lyrics so far, I think this will be a great place to put all our random ideas we get throughout the week so that the whole band can read them at any time.

1) We met in the rain

We met in the rain
at the end of a wet fall day
she wore all black and red
i had leaves stuck to my face

we were back by deadman's pond
in the middle of the willow woods
i was building a raft to sail
she was collecting firewood

I mumbled a hello to her
and she said nothing but she stirred
she began to quietly build
we were friends/ we were friends but we're silent still

she raised her head and said "have you heard the tale?"
"the story kept for ages that will make your skin grow pale?"
I admitted that I hadn't, afraid that she would laugh
her lip curved half a smile as she continued working on the raft
"the pirates of the northern lands did sail apon these shores
and of their evil deeds, theres much forgotten lore."
"a ship once full of treasure was caught in a great storm,"
"and its laden hull, did crash apon cape horn"
"the pirates washed ashore, and did explore inland"
"and on this very island, did bury treasure grand."
"and on this very island, a mutiny did occur,"
"the captain and first mate were hung, and this day their ghosts do stir."

2. Building a raft

We got what we wanted, we got distance from the land
yesterday we slept in the leaves and today, we shove of the sand
well we built this raft out of twigs and leaves, and from out home, we took our leave
singin, we both set off looking for, fantastic things.

3. Gerald's Daydream

shes got gumdrops in her hair
she smells of peppermints and pears
from candy corn and candy canes
her elbows arms and legs were made

and when she sings the sun's to blame
and when she runs its just a game
a trail of sugar left behind
and if you follow you will find...

4. The Two Run Ashore

we hit shore in the night, I knew it was time
the sand shook me from my sleep, and burst my dream apart
scarlet had never slept
her eyes were red and wet

Gerald ran ashore and began to shout
to all pirate ghosts, your treasure will be found
His heart was made of gold
gave light on its own

the island shore was rocks and bones
the forest stood ahead, bleak, and alone
our heartbeats picked up time
we stood at the timber line
she took the first step inside
I felt her hand touch mine

the trees touched our lips with their leaves
something crept in the breeze
a tension only we could see
a forest where the fear fed on the trees
our imaginations began to breath
and we saw beautiful things.

5. Tiny Embers

We were born, we were born for moments much like these
when all our friends, gathered and entered our forest
we waded through, a pond but knew it'd never be too deep
the other side was steep we climbed and then came the night

the very air split, a dark red sun set
and broke through the blackest sky alive

and at that very moment small embers arose
from the branches of trees, from the grass and the groves
and for a very instant, I swear to you, our childhood forest was, alive.

and it shown tiny lights, and it bathed all the night
and i ran down the hill, into all my dreams distilled.
